PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Message by the President of the Association
of Cyprus Travel Agents Mr Vasilis Stamataris

Just like last year’s edition, our Directory is once again published among the bleak
consequences of the pandemic on the sector of tourism and travelling.

Our members have suffered immense losses since 2020. Despite the measures introduced
by the government to support our members and the tourism industry, the financial impact
of the current situation is still agonizing for the tourism industry.

As the Agency responsible for Cyprus tourism development, ACTA has been actively
involved in numerous meetings and has submitted several suggestions to the government
in order for travelling to and from Cyprus to be encouraged and enhanced.

Unfortunately, the covid outbreak, the epidemiological situation in Cyprus and other
countries, as well as the restrictions imposed by governments, have not allowed us to
                            recover.

2021 is going to be yet another particularly challenging year for our members and the
                            tourism industry in general.

We can be more prepared for next year, hoping that the pandemic will be curbed by the
vaccination program. We hope that 2022 will be more positive and promising. In order for
this to happen, though, it is of vital significance to act in a proactive and coordinated way.
We need to draw on our experience and lessons learned and safeguard our sector from
a third consecutive catastrophic year that will have devastating results on our businesses.

ACTA is at the government’s disposal for any kind of suggestion and contribution. We
also expect that the state support to our members will continue and that the government’s
response to the developments will be more effective and will lead to a more prosperous
                            2022.

We express our sincere thanks to all the supporters of ACTA and its Directory. We shall
stand by travelers, tourism and Cyprus economy.

                            Vasilis Stamataris
                            ACTA President
